On Tuesday (October 2), The Pretenders frontwoman opened the exhibition of her latest paintings, which features over 60 works. These include still lifes, self-portraits and paintings by “dear friends,” including Brian Eno and Paul Weller.

The event opens on November 21st and runs until December 12th at 4 Cromwell Place in London Hynde view The exhibition was organized in collaboration with Broadbent Gallery and follows a recent exhibition of Hynde’s paintings at the 2024 British Art Fair at the Saatchi Gallery.

Painting is closely linked to the “Brass in Pocket” singer’s broader creative output, with her artwork forming the cover for 2019’s “Valve Bone Woe” and serving as inspiration for Vivienne Westwood’s Spring-Summer 2021 collection.

Of the upcoming exhibition, Hydne said in a statement: “What was a meditative practice had evolved into something more substantial and could now not be ignored.”

“Like song lyrics waiting to be written, the images kept piling up and demanding to be seen. Writing the will would have to wait; Action had to be taken – the images had to be removed.”

The Hynde Sight – Current Paintings Admission to the exhibition is free and is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Elsewhere, Hynde will join Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan and Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme as performers for a Mark Lanegan tribute show in December. Titled “Mark Lanegan – A Celebration,” the one-off show celebrates the late singer and songwriter, who died in early 2022 at the age of 57.

Other musicians set to perform at the now sold-out show include Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie, Greg Dulli, The Kills’ Alison Mosshart, Soulsavers and more.

Hynde also recently explained the reasons why she and The Pretenders don’t perform in arenas even though they can, saying they prefer to stick to club and theater performances because they are “better for the audience and for the band.”
