A mobile police officer fired after he and his wife allegedly stole packages sent to neighbors

A mobile police officer was fired after he was arrested and charged with theft of property on Thursday.

In a press release, the Mobile Police Department announced that charges have been filed against one of their officers, Patrick Deas, and his wife, Nadia McMillian.

Deas and McMillan were allegedly in possession of open packages addressed to another person at their apartment complex.

According to the statement, the allegations were made on Wednesday and after an investigation, Deas was arrested on Thursday.

MPD Public Information Officer Blake Brown told AL.com that Deas was charged with fourth-degree theft of property. Under Alabama law, the charge is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in prison.

According to the release, an arrest warrant will also be issued for McMillian. Deas graduated from the Mobile Police Academy in July.
