Asheville police are searching for a stabbing suspect

Asheville police are searching for a man accused of stabbing one person and seriously injuring another.

Police are searching for 27-year-old Raqwean Jarrel Savage, who is charged with first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Officers were called to a stabbing in the 200 block of Short Michigan Avenue at approximately 7:06 a.m. on Thursday, October 3rd.

When officers arrived, they said they found one man dead and another with knife wounds to the neck. The second victim was taken to Mission Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say Savage is a black man, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has a tattoo on his upper right arm that reads “EST 1997” and a tattoo of praying hands on his upper left arm.

Savage is believed to be in the West Asheville area near Kentucky Avenue and State Street. Police advise that he should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. If you are seen, do not approach him; Call 911 immediately.

According to Asheville police, this is the ninth homicide the department is investigating this year.
