Pittsfield police have arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing that left a city resident seriously injured Break

PITTSFIELD – A city man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing attack earlier this week that left another man seriously injured.

According to a statement released by Pittsfield police, Rajiv Hanger, 24, was picked up Thursday afternoon by members of the Pittsfield Police Department and the Berkshire County Law Enforcement Task Force.

Hanger is accused of stabbing a 30-year-old man in the area of ​​Kent Avenue late Tuesday. The unidentified victim suffered at least one stab wound that was considered life-threatening.

He remains in critical condition at Berkshire Medical Center.

On Wednesday morning, police searched a Kent Avenue residence and said they had identified a person involved in the stabbing.

Hanger was arrested on an outstanding warrant related to this investigation, police said. He is charged with one count of armed assault with intent to murder and one count of grievous bodily harm. He was also charged with one count of evading justice because he is wanted in the state of Maine.

He is expected to be arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court.
