New DJS guidelines, introduced after an attack on senior Republican lawmakers, call into question the timing

After the attack of an elderly citizen was captured on surveillance video and one of the young suspects was handed over to his guardian after being taken to the youth welfare office, calls for DJS Secretary Vincent Schiraldi to be replaced are becoming louder and louder.

These demands come from both Republican lawmakers and residents, but Gov. Wes Moore has not taken any action against him at this time. Following the attack on the 66-year-old man, new guidelines for monitoring and detaining young people accused of violent crimes have been announced.
