Tragic car accident claims life of cooperative secretary and friend in Pauri | Dehradun News

Dehradun: Two people lost their lives after the car they were traveling in fell into a deep gorge on the Sangalakoti-Jaikhal highway on Thursday morning Kotdwar Pauri Garhwal district area.
The victims, both residents of the same village, included cooperative secretary Dheeraj Singh (54) and his colleague Mehrban Singh (52). The incident took place when Dheeraj was returning to his village Marda Laga Andhkhil from Sangalakoti village.
According to Finance Ministry official Sandhya Rawat, the accident occurred when the car, an Alto, veered off the road and fell into the gorge. Both victims died on the spot.
After the incident was reported by locals, the police rushed to the accident spot and recovered the bodies from the accident site.
They completed the necessary legal formalities and sent the bodies to Pauri for post-mortem. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined and an investigation is underway, an official said. News of the accident left the village in mourning as both men were well known in the community.
