Conifer, CO – A 60-year-old woman died in an ATV accident in the Colorado National Forest, according to authorities. The incident occurred near the park-Teller County border, with recovery operations taking place over rugged terrain.

According to the Park County Coroner’s Office, Shelley Maree Ekstrom of Conifer, Colorado, has been identified as the victim. Ms Ekstrom went missing on Tuesday evening and was found dead the next morning. Authorities confirmed that she died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.

This tragic incident prompted a response from multiple agencies, including the Park County Sheriff’s Office, Search & Rescue and 911 Dispatch. Additional support came from the Lake George Fire Protection District, Ute Pass Regional Ambulance and Flight for Life Colorado.

Authorities expressed their condolences to Ms. Ekstrom’s family and acknowledged the difficulty of the terrain during the rescue. They also thanked all agencies involved for their joint efforts in this challenging rescue operation.
