Despite the end of coal-fired power generation, the future of green energy in the UK is still unclear | energy

The closure of our last coal-fired power station (end of an era as Britain’s last coal-fired power station shuts down, September 30) would be more impressive if we weren’t burning trees at the old Drax power station, which was originally built for coal.

To make matters worse, this absurdity receives millions of dollars in government subsidies every year. This is under the pretense that it is somehow “green”. This delusional behavior may be due to the fact that hardly any cabinet member, either in our last or our new government, was a scientist.
