Safe found with car involved in fatal accident on A50 motorway

Police have found a safe at the scene of a fatal accident on the A50 at the Valburg motorway junction in Gelderland this morning. Two people were killed in the accident and one was seriously injured. Investigators suspect that they may have been fleeing the scene of a burglary at the time of the accident, Gelderland police said on X.

The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on the A50 motorway at the Valburg motorway junction on the A15 towards Bemmel. The car appeared to have come out of a curve at high speed, crashing through the guardrail and landing between the adjacent trees. According to police, it was a single-vehicle accident.

Police said someone “who may have been involved in the accident” was spotted in the area. Investigators are looking for them. A police spokesman told ANP that the person may have been a fourth passenger in the car. “We have no evidence that there was a fourth occupant, but we cannot rule it out either,”

Police are investigating the incident and expect it to take some time.
