A Myrtle Creek woman was jailed on assault, robbery and theft charges stemming from an alleged previous incident.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report previously said a victim claimed he was walking his dog at a park in the 400 block of South Canyon Street in Canyonville when a group of three younger men and stole his dog from a woman. The victim claimed one of the men held him in a chokehold while the others grabbed the animal. The victim said the subjects left the area in a sedan.

Days after the incident, an officer was able to obtain video surveillance that corroborated the victim’s account of the incident. Officers were able to identify all four people who physically assaulted the victim and/or assisted in the attack and then took the dog away.

On Tuesday, 38-year-old Christian Sorensen was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree theft and third-degree assault. Sorensen was held on $5,000 bail and released Wednesday.
