A shotgun is fired during a physical altercation

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Police arrested a man after they say an argument led to the man firing a shotgun at someone.

On Sunday, September 29, a Jonesboro Police Officer arrived at a local business for a disturbance.

When the officer arrived, he learned that the victim and Chad Kahn had gotten into an argument.

According to the affidavit, the victim said the argument stemmed from him leaning on Kahn’s truck.

Kahn asked the victim to get away from his truck.

The victim apologized and Kahn began yelling at her. Kahn then went into his truck and “pulled out a shotgun.”

The affidavit states that Kahn pointed the shotgun at the victim, which then led to a physical altercation.

The victim told the officer that during the physical altercation, Kahn “fired the shotgun at the victim but did not hit him.”

The affidavit states the struggle continued over the shotgun, which was eventually dropped and picked up by a bystander.

When the argument ended, Kahn left the scene.

Officers found a spent shotgun shell at the scene.

The affidavit states the Jonesboro officer saw Kahn contact Brookland police to file a police report.

Craighead County officers responded and took Kahn into custody.

On Tuesday, Oct. 2, Craighead County District Court Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge Kahn with aggravated assault, a Class D felony, and third-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor.

Boling set Kahn’s bail at $25,000 cash bond.
