Michael Schumacher’s ex-manager reveals the tragic reason why he refuses to visit him as he misses the invitation to the Formula 1 driver’s daughter’s wedding

  • Michael Schumacher’s daughter married her boyfriend on Saturday
  • The wedding took place at the family’s £27 million luxury villa in Mallorca
  • Schumacher’s ex-manager Willi Weber revealed why he wasn’t invited

Michael Schumacher’s former manager has revealed why he isn’t visiting the Formula 1 legend after he wasn’t invited to his daughter Gina’s wedding.

Willi Weber, 82, was Schumacher’s manager until 2012 and helped make the eventual seven-time world champion one of the highest-earning sports stars of all time.

He also looked after his brother Ralf, who drove in Formula 1 for eleven years and won six races.

However, Weber wasn’t even invited to celebrate the wedding of Michael’s daughter Gina as she tied the knot with long-term boyfriend Iain Bethke at the family’s luxurious £27million holiday villa in Mallorca.

Weber now revealed that he would not have been able to take part in the ceremony for health reasons and also explained why he had already “said goodbye to Michael”.

In an interview with Bild he said: “I think about my successes with Michael – our goals and our victories.” I remember Michael as he was. And we probably won’t see each other again.

“It was my fault that I didn’t visit Michael after the accident and didn’t stand by him.” Because I thought the media reports were exaggerated.

“I thought I’d better wait a few days and then everything would be fine.” But it was too late. For a long time I blamed myself for not reacting immediately.

“Since then, I have said goodbye to Michael in my heart to find peace again.”

There is no bad blood between Weber and the 55-year-old Schumacher, who has not appeared in public since suffering a serious head injury while skiing in the French resort of Meribel in 2013.

“I haven’t had any contact with the family for over ten years and I can barely remember what even happened,” he added.

“I wasn’t invited to the wedding, but I still wouldn’t have gone because I’m not feeling well at the moment.” I wouldn’t have wanted to fly to Mallorca.

“Michael was one of my best friends. More like a son I never had. “Nobody knows exactly what’s going on with him today, so I don’t want to comment further.”

BILD claimed that it was “very likely” that Michael attended his daughter’s wedding despite his health.

The German outlet also reports that guests’ phones were confiscated because the family didn’t want anyone taking unauthorized photos of the property’s private rooms.

The guests were also said to have included Michael’s brother Ralf and his partner Etienne Bosquet-Cassagne, who were involved in an argument with Michael’s ex-wife Cora because she claimed she “stabbed herself in the heart” after finding out he was gay.

The villa has a landing pad and he is regularly flown from the family home on Lake Geneva in Switzerland to the villa in Port d’Andratx.

It is part of a 15,000 square meter property that has two swimming pools, a helipad, a gym and a huge palm-lined garden.
