Player of the week

Carson Heinle

Kiski Area, Sr., QB/DB

The veteran signal-caller helped his team earn a win against Big East rival Franklin Regional on Friday. Heinle completed 16 of 27 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns and added 91 yards and a TD on nine rushing attempts in the 35-30 loss. He also topped the Kiski all-time career passing list with 3,753 yards. Heinle now holds nearly all of the Cavaliers’ passing records, including attempts (479), completions (278) and touchdowns (39). In six games, Heinle has thrown for 892 yards and eight touchdowns.

Players to watch

Sean Selinger

Freeport, sr., TE/LB

As a blocker and pass catcher on offense and as a run stopper and pass defender on defense, Selinger’s presence is felt all over the field every week. In Friday’s 48-20 win over Valley, he had a 73-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter. He caught three passes for 105 yards and a touchdown in Freeport’s 42-0 win over Burrell on September 20.

Kaden Spencer

Knoch, sr., WR/LB

The Knights jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead against Indiana last Friday to secure a 42-13 win that ended a two-game losing streak. Spencer was once again a reliable target for quarterback Codi Mullen with five catches for 78 yards and a 5-yard touchdown in the first-half rout. Spencer hopes to be a standout again on Friday against Mars.

Zier Williams

Deer Lakes, Sr., R.B

Williams started the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown run in the first quarter against Highlands on Friday. Williams also helped lead a comeback from a two-touchdown deficit in the third quarter. He scored the Lancers’ last two points – TD runs of 2 and 3 yards – in their 27-26 home win over the Golden Rams. Williams finished the game with 145 yards on 28 carries.
