Woman found dead in car during traffic stop in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in a car during a traffic stop in Flagstaff on Monday.

The woman was identified as 38-year-old Sandy Singer of Tonalea, which is about 100 miles northeast of Flagstaff on the Navajo Nation.

Around 3 p.m., Flagstaff police received reports that a man had placed an unresponsive woman into a vehicle on Beulah Boulevard and driven away. A few minutes later, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description about two miles north of the original location.

Police stopped the vehicle outside a motel near Milton Road and Butler Avenue and found an unresponsive woman inside. Officers attempted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Flagstaff PD, the driver was interviewed and released. Since then, investigators have served multiple search warrants, processed evidence and conducted numerous interviews.

The case is currently a suspicious death investigation and police have not indicated whether they believe foul play was involved.
