Tragic explosion in Bareilly Firecracker Unit: 3 dead, several injured

At least three people were killed and as many were injured in a devastating explosion at a fireworks factory in a village near Bareilly on Wednesday, according to local police.

The blast, which occurred in the Sirauli police station area, also caused damage to several nearby buildings. The authorities are currently checking the license of the system operator Nasir.

Inspector General (Bareilly Range) Rakesh Singh told PTI that Nasir had a license for another location while the incident took place at his in-laws’ house.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences for the lives lost and directed officials to ensure that the injured receive appropriate treatment.

Senior officials, including IG Singh, rushed to the spot to supervise relief efforts while police, health and fire personnel worked quickly to rescue those affected. Preliminary investigation revealed that Nasir’s driving license was for another location even though the operations were carried out from his in-laws’ house. Locally manufactured crackers were identified as the cause of the explosion.

A comprehensive investigation is underway and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are thoroughly searching the area to ensure that no one remains trapped under the rubble.
