Motorcyclist identified after fatal crash in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A Byron man has been identified as the motorcyclist who died in a crash involving a garbage truck on Rockford’s southeast side Tuesday.

Joseph Roth, 48, died at the scene, according to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office.

Officials say the coroner’s office was called to the area of ​​Harrison Avenue and Bucknell Drive around 3 p.m. on Oct. 1 for a fatal motorcycle accident.

Investigators say Roth was on Harrison Ave. was traveling east when he collided with the garbage truck coming from Bucknell Drive to Harrison Ave. drove west.

Rockford police closed the area for about three hours.

The investigation into Roth’s death is ongoing.
