Phillip Schofield claims This Morning fired him because of his brother’s crimes

Phillip Schofield said that after his release he was “sacked for someone else’s crime”. This morningsuggesting that he was released because of the crimes committed by his brother.

Schofield’s 54-year-old brother Timothy was convicted in April 2023 of 11 sex offenses involving a child committed between October 2016 and October 2019.

“Why should I be fired for something someone else did? I just got fired because of him. Because I became more of a story than a program.

“It was better for the show, better for the network. And I agreed to say that I resigned because it would be better for everyone.

“I was always open and honest with everyone at work about what was happening to me Brother. I was fired because of bad publicity, because of someone else’s crime.

“And about a week later I ended myself up with everything else (his affair) because I thought the only way to even make this right for everyone was to give a full mea culpa.”

At the end of the Channel 5 broadcast Schofield said he wasn’t sure if he would host again.
