Man dead after shooting in Springfield overnight

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A man has died after an overnight shooting in Springfield.

Springfield police spokesman Ryan Walsh said officers were called to the 200 block of Hancock Street around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday to activate a ShotSpotter.

When they arrived, they found an adult male shooting victim who was taken to Baystate Medical Center, where he died.

The case remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit in conjunction with the Hampden District Attorney’s Homicide Unit.
