Mahima Chaudhry remembers her near-fatal car accident

Talking about the incident, Mahima said, “When my accident happened, I was not aware that I had so many cuts on my face. I found it later when I went into the bathroom and saw the mirror. Before that, I told Prakash ji (Prakash Jha, director) if nothing happened, let’s shoot. Because the doctors were done with the scans etc. He said, “No, no, let’s wait, we’ll just go out and talk about dates.” When I saw my face, I realized that my face was injured. When Ajay and Prakash ji came back, my first thought was, “Please don’t tell anyone that I went through this.” “At least let me try to figure out what I can do to save my career.” It’s just immense that no one is out production told someone. 20 years later I told the story and that’s when people found out about it. It is commendable. I would always go on set and everyone could see it.”

She continued: “It was hard because I was very young when I went through it. Ajay always said that everything would be fine after surgeries, but I didn’t believe it. I’ve been thinking about other career options. Even today, my eye is smaller than the other. It was very stressful back then. I never looked directly into the camera. I would always tilt my face a little.”
