Suspect in Santa Barbara standoff faces multiple charges | Local News

Santa Barbara police have released the name of the suspect who was arrested Monday after an hours-long standoff.

Julian Carmona, 36, was arrested on charges of kidnapping, assault, criminal threats, false imprisonment, burglary, restraining order violations and resisting arrest, Sgt. Bryan Kerr said Tuesday.

Kerr said bail was set at $1 million.

Carmona was arrested Monday in the 500 block of North Salsipuedes Street after barricading himself in an apartment.

Police were called around 8:30 p.m. Sunday after reports of a domestic disturbance. A female victim was able to leave the apartment and was safe.

Police cordoned off the street while a SWAT team and crisis negotiators worked to de-escalate the situation.

They took Carmona into custody without further incident on Monday around 1 p.m.
