The Lynx turnaround was impressive, but now they face another tough team

Not a lot of depth, but moving the ball at the rim, raining down threes and playing strong defense — that added up to a 30-10 record and the second seed. And after the Olympic break, in which Reeve was the winning coach and Collier won a gold medal, the Lynx were a winning machine.

Even the New York Liberty weren’t safe from this team the way the Lynx played.

And the first playoff series against the mighty Phoenix Mercury was a cruise, with the Lynx getting what they wanted offensively, scoring 101 and 102 points, respectively, in two wins.

With this post-Olympic surge, the Lynx had caught up with the Connecticut Sun and passed them for second place.

The Sun won two straight to eliminate Indiana Fever, insulting famed sportswriter Christine Brennan in the process with an incident involving Caitlin Clark.

The WNBA players’ association overreacted, reprimanding Brennan for asking the Sun’s DiJonai Carrington a tough question. On the other hand, Brennan is supposed to be writing a book about Clark and was overly unhappy that Caitlin wasn’t on the Olympic team.
