Dead by Daylight 2v8 mode returns with new killers and maps as well as survivor optimizations

Dead by Daylight 2v8 was such a success that Behavior is bringing it back into the horror multiplayer game sooner than expected and with some new additions. DbD 2v8 will return from November 12, 2024 to November 26, 2024 with new maps and more Killers, as well as some changes to how Survivors works.

“The team was incredibly excited to see the community’s response to the initial release of 2v8,” Dead by Daylight product director Justin Brown said in a press release. “One of the reasons we’re releasing this second iteration on this timeline is because we just want to get it back into players’ hands. We don’t want people to have to wait six months to play again, nor do we want to wait another six months for further feedback. We hope we can continue this approach in the future.”

Blight, Spirit and Deathslinger join the killer roster that already includes Hillbilly, Trapper, Huntress, Nurth and Wraith, and you can expect new maps for the Yamaoka Estate and Grave of Glendale realms, adapted for 2v8. Behavior said that several other new maps are in circulation for the existing 2v8 realms, but did not mention any details.

Killers will also be divided into classes as part of this, which Behavior says will help create a “standardized form” that will make adding new killers to the mode easier in the future. The killer classes are:

Meanwhile, Survivors will have new active abilities as well as changes to how perks work that Behavior hopes will lead to “game-changing plays at crucial moments.” Each class’s unlock ability now has a special perk that unlocks after sending the survivor into a cage. They also gain active abilities that recharge over time, allowing them to perform a range of special activities, from repairing pallets to surviving at death’s door.

Dead by Daylight 2v8 is still not a permanent mode, but it sounds like Behavior is working to make sure we’ll eventually be able to play it more often than not.
