Schumacher and his immediate family are protective of his privacy after he suffered a life-changing brain injury following a skiing accident in the French resort of Meribel in 2013.

The full extent of the injury was never revealed to the public, but Schumacher spent the last 11 years in almost complete privacy.

According to reports, only his immediate family members – with the exception of brother Ralf, a fellow former F1 driver – and a team of medical staff have access to the 55-year-old motorsport icon.

But that attitude may be waning and there are signs that Schumacher may be ready to be seen in public again.

Last weekend, Schumacher’s 27-year-old daughter Gina-Marie married Iain Bethke in the family’s luxurious villa on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

The four-hectare estate, purchased by Real Madrid chief executive Florentino Perez in 2017, has its own helipad used to transport Michael from his family home on Lake Geneva in Switzerland to the 15,000 square meter villa.

Privacy was strictly maintained at the wedding and guests were required to leave their phones at the door before entering. It is believed to be the first time Michael has been in public and interacted with friends and family members since his accident.

It could also potentially be a sign that Ms. Corinna’s attitude toward privacy has softened.

Last year Ralf revealed that he was no longer in contact with Michael and Corinna, but continued to be in contact with their children Gina-Maria and Mick. Ralf also said that he is always there to offer support.

“If anyone in the family is looking for my advice, I’m there. They go their own way.”

Mallorcan news agency Ultima Hora reported that the wedding ceremony lasted about half an hour and that the newlyweds said “I do” around 4 p.m. local time.

The family may soon be together again for another wedding.

Mick, who is currently a reserve driver for Mercedes in Formula 1, is said to have proposed to his girlfriend, Danish lingerie model Laila Hasanovic. The couple has been together for about 18 months and is rumored to be planning a wedding in 2025.

Mick congratulated his sister on her wedding in an Instagram story on Sunday, writing: “I’m so happy for you both.”
