Man killed in Newhall industrial accident identified

Officials with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner have identified the man who was struck and killed by construction equipment on Arcadia Street in Newhall on Friday afternoon.

Javier Magana Valdovinos, 37, of Santa Paula, died from traumatic injuries after being struck by equipment reportedly being used to pave the road.

Officers from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the incident in the 24400 block of Arcadia Street around 12:50 p.m. Friday.

Homicide Detective Mark Farino confirmed Friday evening that the death was being investigated as an accident and the cause of the accident was unknown.

Farino could not be reached for an update on the investigation at the time this story was published.
