Paris police reports from October 1, 2024

Monday, September 30, 2024; Officers responded to an assault in the 1800 block of NE Loop 286. While at the scene, they came into contact with Damian Jace Friesen, 18. Friesen was found to have an outstanding Lamar County warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Friesen was taken into custody without incident.

Monday, September 30, 2024; An officer received a call of a suspicious person in the 1700 block of Pine Bluff. A person had entered the public toilet and did not want to come out. Upon arrival, the officer entered the unlocked restroom and made contact with Dejuante Tavil Terrell, 27, who was in possession of a syringe that was found to contain a controlled substance. It was also determined that Terrell was in an intoxicated state, apparently due to the contents of the syringe. Tests confirmed the syringe contained fentanyl, a controlled substance. Terrell was charged with possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication.

Monday, September 30, 2024; Officers with the NE Texas Auto Theft Task Force were conducting a garage inspection in Greenville, Texas when they discovered several pieces of stolen equipment at the location. Officers recovered a John Deere tractor and rotary mower that were stolen in San Patricio County in 2017, as well as a Bobcat skid steer loader that was stolen from a location in Dallas, Texas, in 2020. All devices were confiscated as evidence and the registration authorities were notified. The investigation continues.

Monday, September 30, 2024; Officers responded to a disturbance in the 800 block of Lamar Avenue. She contacted a victim who told her that she had been attacked by several people at a home she was visiting. The victim stated that she was knocked out of the apartment by several people and that her vehicle sustained significant damage from the same blows. Officers discovered that the victim’s vehicle had been scratched and appeared to have been kicked by the suspects, as there were shoe prints on numerous areas of the vehicle’s body. The victim left the scene and the incident is under investigation.

During the reporting period, officers conducted eight traffic stops, arrested five adults and responded to 123 calls.
