Colorado gun owners have no opposition to the assault weapons ban

A federal judge said gun owners in Colorado lack the authority to challenge several state bans on assault weapons, although she did not immediately dismiss their case.

Judge Nina Wang of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado said in her opinion Monday that the gun owner plaintiffs, led by Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, have failed to show they have standing to sue three Colorado communities – Superior, Louisville and Boulder – because of their respective ordinances banning assault weapons.

However, the judge added that the Colorado Township defendants did not address the issue in their motion for summary judgment, so the motion is denied for now. …
