A man was shot in the groin during an argument in west Atlanta, police said

An adult male suffered a gunshot wound to the groin in a shooting just before 1 a.m. Oct. 1.

According to Atlanta police, officers responded to a report of a person walking in the 1100 block of Sells Ave. around 12:56 a.m. SW was shot near Lawton Street SW. Upon arrival, they located the victim, who was later transported to the hospital by Grady EMS. The victim was stable at the time of transport.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting resulted from a verbal argument between the victim and a man. After the shooting, the man left the scene in a gray Kia sedan, witnesses believe.

The incident is still under investigation.
