Menard Co. Man Arrested by ISP on Child Pornography Charges – WLDS

A Menard County man is behind bars after an arrest by Illinois State Police on Thursday.

Shane E. Guernsey, 51, of Petersburg, was arrested by Illinois State Police and booked into the Menard County Jail on one count of distribution of child pornography.

Guernsey was formally charged Friday, according to online court records.

According to state police on June 18th^ThISP agents began an investigation after learning that an individual was possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material. During the investigation, ISP agents assigned to the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force collected digital evidence indicating that Guernsey had child sexual abuse material at his Menard County residence. On Thursday, ISP agents, Petersburg police and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office executed a search warrant at Guernsey’s home and arrested him.

Guernsey remains held at the Menard County Jail.
