24 new scary films and series will be released in the first week of October 2024

September had no shortage of horror content, but October is obviously going to be the month to beat when it comes to checking out new scary movies and TV shows. From Netflix to Max to Hulu, there’s a lot to be excited about as we finally enter the best month of the year.

Netflix & Chills continues with the debut of films like The platform 2 and the Sundance breakout It is What’s inside?while Huluween delivers the Sarah Paulson-led film Hold your breath, and Max finally premieres his long-standing work Salem’s property Adjustment.

As for TV, prepare to flip between the start of Freeform’s annual “31 Days of Halloween” marathon, AMC’s FearFest, and some network premieres Horror tactics And The scariest house in America.

Five years after modernity Salem’s property With the adaptation announced, viewers can finally experience the horrors of Jerusalem’s Lot for themselves this week. Feeling trapped by writer’s block, Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) returns to his childhood home only to find the entire place has been overrun by vampires. Gary Dauberman (Annabelle comes home) is directing the 2024 adaptation of Stephen King’s 1975 horror novel starring Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Pilou Asbæk, Alfre Woodard and William Sadler.

Acclaimed actress Sarah Paulson stars in this Hulu original film from Searchlight Pictures. Set in 1930s Oklahoma, Paulson plays a traumatized young mother struggling to come to terms with a past incident. When a dust storm hits, she begins to believe that a dark presence has haunted her and that she must do everything she can to protect her daughter.

House of Loot

After debuting at Fantastic Fest in September, this supernatural horror film lands on Prime Video this week. The latest collaboration between Amazon and Blumhouse, house of loot, Starring Ariana DeBose, a chef sets out to open her own restaurant in a beautiful, haunted property, only to face obstacles at every turn due to the previous owner’s persistent enthusiasm. Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy direct (Blow the man down).

The seventh entry in this long-running found footage anthology series will be released this Friday on Shudder and is already being hailed as one of the best in the series. Featuring the directorial debut of Kate Siegel – based on a screenplay by her husband and horror icon Mike Flanagan – and new short films by Justin and Christian Long, Jay Cheel, Justin Martinez and others. V/H/S/Beyond promises to be a bold, frightening and exciting entry into this beloved franchise.

Netflix has snapped up this horror-comedy after it premiered to rave reviews at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. At a pre-wedding party, a group of friends find themselves in a real-life nightmare when an estranged friend shows up late, touting a mysterious suitcase.

A sequel to one of the most successful non-English language Netflix films of all time. The platform 2 introduces two mysterious new characters, played by The Snow Maiden Star Milena Smith and Hovik Keuchkerian, known for his work on Money grab. Just like in the first film, the Vertical Self-Management System is the real star here, along with someone trying to enforce a brutal new rule within the unorthodox prison.

Dubbed “Season 666,” the titular brothers Dracmorda and Swanthula return to find this season’s next iconic drag “supermonster.”

The documentary series’ latest volume of episodes features a number of cases perfect for the Halloween season. This time, viewers learn the surprisingly dark and profound truth behind thousands of livestock mutilations, an update on Roswell, and more.

Produced by Jordan Peele, this reimagining of the popular hidden camera prank show returns and will premiere Friday, October 4th at 10pm ET/PT on USA Network. The episode will also air simultaneously on Bravo, SYFY and E! broadcast.
