DoorDash delivery man critical after shooting in East Mount Airy – NBC10 Philadelphia

A man is in critical condition after being shot in Philadelphia’s East Mount Airy neighborhood Monday afternoon.

At about 4:54 p.m., police were called to the 1500 block of E Johnson Street for multiple reports of shots fired in a back driveway, Philadelphia Inspector Scott Small said.

When officers arrived, they found a 29-year-old man lying face down and suffering from gunshot wounds to the back. He was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition, Small said.

Where the victim was found in the driveway, police found five spent shell casings, according to Small, and around the corner, half a block away, a sixth spent shell casing was also found.

The victim told police he was a Doordash food delivery driver who was working at the time of the shooting. He had parked his car and was about to get out when he saw someone coming toward him with a gun, so he fled on foot, Small said.

The victim heard gunshots and realized he had been shot before collapsing in the driveway.

The shots were fired with a semi-automatic weapon, but there is currently no description of the shot or the shooters, police said.

Small said there are several private cameras in the area that they hope can help them with this shooting.

No further information is available at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
