Fatal ore truck accident on Richardson Highway

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – One person was killed in a car accident on the Richardson Highway at mile marker 332 near Salcha Monday morning.

According to the Alaska Department of Public Safety, the accident involved a passenger vehicle and a commercial vehicle and occurred around 6:25 a.m. According to Alaska State Trooper Dispatch, a four-door sedan pulled in front of the southbound commercial vehicle and failed to stop at a stop sign.

The driver of the sedan, 42-year-old Temitayo Iyanu Kalejaiye, was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased’s next of kin have been notified. Black Gold Transport has confirmed that the commercial vehicle was an unloaded ore transporter used to transport ore between Manh Choh and Kinross Fort Knox.

Kinross released a statement expressing his condolences to those involved in the accident and their families.
