New York madman randomly slashes 62-year-old man with box cutter in broad daylight

A bumbling attacker randomly slashed a 62-year-old man with a box cutter in broad daylight on Sunday as he crossed a street in the Bronx, cops and sources said.

The victim was waiting for the traffic light to change at Hugh Grant Circle near Metropolitan Avenue in Parkchester around 2:20 p.m. when the perpetrator – who had a history of emotional disturbance – suddenly and for no reason cut the man’s right ear, as authorities and sources said.

Police searched the area and found the suspected attacker, Joyner Javon, 33, authorities said.

Javon – who sources say is known to be an “emotionally disturbed person” – has been charged with assault, according to police.

According to police, a gray box cutter blade was recovered from the scene of the accident.

The victim was treated by emergency services at the 43rd District station building, police said.
