Fort Carson man sentenced to 14 years in prison for child sexual abuse

A Colorado Springs-area man was sentenced Wednesday to 14 years in federal prison and 12 years of supervised release for sexually abusing a child in his care.

Mitchel Crow, 32, was a civilian who lived at the US Army post Fort Carson near Colorado Springs between May and December 2020. “Several” incidents of abuse occurred during this time, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado.

“There is nothing more important than protecting children in our society,” Federal Attorney Matt Kirsch said in the press release. “This lengthy sentence reflects the severity of the defendant’s abuse of a minor he was supposed to be protecting.”

The FBI Denver Field Office conducted the investigation, and Senior U.S. District Judge Raymond P. Moore presided over the sentencing on September 25.
