ISP Arrests Menard Co. Man for Distributing Child Sexual Abuse Materials

SPRINGFIELD – Illinois State Police (ISP) Zone 4 Criminal Investigation Division (ISP) arrested Shane E. Guernsey, 51, of Petersburg, Illinois, for Distribution of Child Pornography (Class X) and Possession of Child Pornography (Class 2).

On June 18, 2024, ISP agents began an investigation after learning that an individual was possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material. During the investigation, ISP agents assigned to the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force collected digital evidence indicating that Guernsey had child sexual abuse material at his Menard County residence.

On September 26, 2024, ISP agents, Petersburg police and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office executed a search warrant at Guernsey’s residence and arrested him. Guernsey was charged by the Menard County Prosecutor’s Office with the above charges. Guernsey is being held at the Menard County Jail.
