LCPS tests school menus at its first food fair

ASHBURN, VA – If you’ve always wanted to have a say in what school menus are, now is your chance. The community will have the opportunity to try out potential school menu recipes that will be tested at the Loudoun County Public Schools’ new food fair.

The school division’s first food show will be held on Friday, October 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Independence High School, 23115 Learning Circle, Ashburn, VA. More than 30 LCPS chefs and food service providers will offer food samples and share recipes. Over a dozen community partners will also be on hand to share information about health, from fighting hunger to exercise.

According to LCPS, the event is designed to gather student feedback on “good meals, culturally inclusive recipes and delicious snacks” to ensure healthy school menus meet student desires.

“Food has the amazing ability to bring people together, so this event is especially important for School Nutrition Services to share our initiatives and demonstrate how we are changing the future of school nutrition,” said Brittany Palaschak, the nutrition and procurement coordinator LCPS, which collaborates, organized the food show.

Feedback is collected through a survey.
