Early voting begins in Lancaster County for the November general election

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lancaster County Election Commissioner’s Office has begun mailing out early ballots for the Nov. 5 statewide general election.

Voters who requested early voting by last Friday should receive their ballots by the end of this week.

Early voting ballots must be returned to the Board of Elections by mail in the addressed envelope included with the ballot or by dropping them off at one of the secure drop boxes listed below:

  • Commissioner of Elections, 601 North 46th Street
  • Anderson Branch Library, 3635 Touzalin Avenue
  • Eiseley Branch Library, 1530 Superior Street
  • Gere Branch Library, 2400 South 56th Street
  • Walt Branch Library, 6701 South 14th Street

By law, early voting envelopes must be signed and received by the Election Commission by November 5 at 8 p.m.

Also on Monday, voters in Lincoln can now pick up an early general election ballot at the elections office. Early in-person voting for the general election begins next Monday, October 7th

The Election Commission’s office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Extended office hours are listed on the website.

State law allows any registered voter to cast their ballot early. However, the voter must request this ballot in writing. An early voting request form is also available on the Election Commissioner’s website.

Applications to vote by mail for the general election must be received at the Election Commissioner’s Office by Friday, October 25, 6:00 p.m.
