Money owed leads to stabbing in Bonita Springs

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – A man is in Lee County Jail for allegedly stabbing a man to death in the parking lot of the Bonita Springs Poker Room. The victim said it started with an argument over money owed.

According to a report obtained by Fox 4, the victim told officers that the suspect, Omar Castro, owed the victim money and he had been trying to get it for several months.

The victim said he saw Castro’s car in the poker room on Sept. 28 and eventually saw Castro walk out. Officials say the victim confronted Castro.

According to the report, the victim and Castro got into an argument during which the victim was stabbed multiple times in the stomach. However, due to the adrenaline levels, the victim said he didn’t know he had been stabbed until he noticed heavy bleeding.

Officers say the victim panicked and got into his car to drive himself to the hospital. According to the report, the victim stopped driving when he passed out. Then he said he woke up in the hospital.

Castro was near the crime scene when officers arrived and arrested him.

He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
