Grayson Co. assault suspect arrested in Marshall Co. after high speed chase

MADILL, Okla. (KXII) – A suspect in an assault and battery with a deadly weapon case in Grayson County was located and arrested over the weekend after a high-speed chase in a Corvette north of the Red River in Marshall County.

Marshall County Sheriff Donald Yow said they were notified by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office around 3 a.m. Saturday to be on the lookout for a new Corvette driven by Joshua Werner.

Yow said Marshall County officers located the vehicle traveling north on US-377 and officers made a U-turn on the vehicle and the Corvette gained speed and began to elude officers, reaching speeds of reached more than 120 miles per hour.

Yow said Madill police are aware of the pursuit and are ready to help. A short time later, the Corvette passed a Madill police unit on Highway 99C and the Madill police unit activated its emergency equipment and the driver of the Corvette stopped and “acted as if nothing had happened.”

Officers quickly arrived on scene to assist Madill PD and Werner was arrested. Grayson County officers arrived and interviewed the suspect and will file their charges in Grayson County, Yow said.

Werner was taken to the Marshall County Detention Center and charged with evading coverage for all traffic violations committed in Marshall County.
