Suspect found dead in White Township shooting

A man who shot at officers responding to a domestic incident in White Township Saturday night is dead, according to state police.

At 9:57 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a residence at 4857 Lucerne Road after a man called State Police headquarters regarding a domestic incident involving his adult son, later identified as 22-year-old Henry Divinskiy of New York . Police were also told he was armed with a semi-automatic rifle. When police arrived, the suspect fired several shots from an upstairs bedroom window of the apartment building, striking a patrol vehicle and nearly hitting his father and a police officer who threw him to the ground to protect him. The soldiers then took cover but did not return fire.

Additional soldiers were called to the scene along with members of the Special Emergency Response Team. They tried to contact Divinskiy but received no response. SERT members examined the crime scene with a drone and found him lying on the ground. When they entered the building, they found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

State troopers were assisted by the Indiana and Homer City fire departments, the coroner’s office and the county emergency management agency.
