Joan viewers are “blown away” by Sophie Turner in the ITV drama.

Joan has landed on ITV and the crime drama impresses viewers from the first episode, especially thanks to Sophie Turner’s stunning performance as Joan Hannington.

The six-part television series is inspired by the real-life jewel thief’s experiences in the 1980s and explores how she became one of Britain’s most notorious criminals and why. The first episode is about her difficult decision to place her daughter in foster care when her life is threatened after her partner pisses off the wrong people and abandons her.

Viewers realized why Joan turned to a life of crime to free her daughter Kelly from care. And Turner’s portrayal of Joan’s emotional turmoil during this time touched viewers, who shared their thoughts on social media.

Many viewers said how impressed they were with the Game of Thrones star’s performance with one person Write: “Sophie Turner shows what an incredibly versatile actress she is. You wouldn’t even know it was her. Wow! Blown away!”

Another said They had already watched the entire show in one sitting after it dropped on ITVX, adding: “Watching #Joan yesterday, Sophie Turner deserves all the awards! The best thing on TV in years! Congratulations to everyone involved!”

Meanwhile, one viewer praised Turner after the release of the first episode and said: “Wow #SophieTurner crushes her role as #Joan in the crime drama on @ITV. I was in tears as the scenes between her and her beloved daughter Kelly were so moving.”

Turner may be known for her portrayal of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, but that doesn’t mean everyone saw her as a person in the HBO hit wrote: “Sophie Turner is brilliant, the first thing I see and I really enjoyed the first episode!”

While another viewer who watched Game of Thrones felt Turner’s acting performance had improved since her big break from television said: “Sophie Turner was very good in ‘Joan’. I only saw her in ‘Game of Thrones’ and I didn’t particularly appreciate her acting at the time. But she’s excellent at it and I’m looking forward to watching the other episodes.”

Joining Turner in the series is Frank Dillane, who portrays Joan’s real-life husband and crime partner Boisie Hannington. The first episode depicted the two’s first meeting and their budding romance as they understood each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

The TV show is based on Hannington’s memoir “I Am What I Am,” in which she details her experiences with child abuse, her fight for custody of her daughter and her rise into the criminal underworld in the ’80s with her husband.

Joan airs every Sunday and Monday at 9pm on ITV1 and all episodes are available now on ITVX.
