A man in his 30s is due to appear at the Central Criminal Court charged with the Tralee attack

A man in his 30s has appeared before the Central Criminal Court charged with a brutal attack on a young woman in Tralee earlier this year.

The man has no fixed address and faces a total of seven charges in connection with the alleged attack on the woman in March.

Due to the nature of some of these allegations, his name cannot be released.

The defendant is facing seven charges in connection with the alleged attack on the young woman in the city center in March this year.

He is charged with rape, aggravated sexual assault, assault, threatening to kill or cause serious bodily harm and producing scissors during the incident.

He recently appeared in person at Tralee District Court wearing tracksuit bottoms, a black jacket and running shoes and sporting a neck tattoo.

The evidence book against him with the seven charges was officially served on him.

Sergeant Chris Manton said the Director of Public Prosecutions had ordered that he stand trial on the charges at the Central Criminal Court.

Sergeant Manton said the DPP had also agreed that the defendant would be referred to the Central Criminal Court with a signed plea.

Judge David Waters sent him for trial or with a signed plea to the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court, October 7.
