Where to watch Mets vs. Braves today: Channel, time, TV schedule for doubleheader with playoff spot online

The Mets and Braves face a unique, season-defining doubleheader on Monday.

Each team – with an identical record of 88-72 – needs just one win to secure a playoff spot. The NL Wild Card Series begins Tuesday. But neither team is guaranteed a place. The idle Diamondbacks (89-73) would reach the playoffs if either New York or Atlanta win Monday’s doubleheader and the losing team goes home.

The two teams were originally scheduled to play a three-game series last week. But after the Braves won Game 1, Hurricane Helene intervened and forced the postponement of the final two games. That set the stage for a doubleheader on Monday, one day after the end of the regular season for the other 28 teams.

The Mets, seeking to reach the playoffs for just the second time in the last eight years, ended a three-game losing streak on Sunday. Francisco Lindor — battling a back injury that caused him to miss nine games — drove in two runs and scored twice to pace the offense in the 5-0 win.

The Braves are seeking their seventh straight playoff appearance and are still in position despite a series of injuries. Atlanta’s five-game winning streak ended Sunday with a 4-2 loss to the Royals; A win would have secured a spot in the playoffs.

Atlanta will start rookie right-hander Spencer Schwanzenbach alongside Tylor Megill for the Mets in Game 1. The Game 2 starters depend on the outcome of Game 1, but Chris Sale and Luis Severino loom as options.
