Man hits car multiple times with ax, still at large, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis police are searching for a man who allegedly destroyed a car with an axe.

On September 27, 2024, at approximately 5:10 p.m., officers responded to a vandalism call at the Valero gas station on Southern Avenue.

Officers were told the victim had entered the store to purchase something.

When the victim returned, the car was damaged. Surveillance footage showed the suspect getting out of a silver vehicle.

The suspect approached the victim’s car with an ax in hand; He crashed into the victim’s vehicle several times and left the scene.

The suspect had been asked to leave the store before the vandalism due to his involvement in previous thefts.
