Ludhiana police arrest gangster Neutron’s father for sexually harassing and threatening a woman

The arrest of Jameshpal alias Jassa comes almost 40 days after the notorious criminal, who was classified as a Category A gangster, was nabbed by the police.

According to a complaint filed by the woman, the defendant suspected that she was passing on information about the gangster Neutron and his helpers to the police. The defendant was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, officials said.

The 40-year-old woman, a resident of Flower Enclave, said she went to LIG flats late on Saturday evening.

The complainant alleged that the accused, who is her neighbor, appeared there and intercepted her way.

She added that the accused sexually harassed her and when she objected and raised the alarm, the accused beat her up.

She said the defendant fled the scene and threatened her.

Dugri station officer sub-inspector (SHO) Hamraj Singh said the police had filed a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 75 (sexual harassment) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) soon after Receipt of the complaint.

He added that the accused was arrested within hours of the case being registered.

Locals instigated accused, says SHO

The SHO said some locals instigated Jameshpal and told him that the woman had passed on information about Neutron and his aides to the police.

Gangster, wife and brother were already in prison

Gangster Sagar Neutron’s wife and brother are already in jail in separate cases. Neutron is on trial on at least 18 counts, including murder.

His brother was arrested with illegal weapons.

In a joint operation with the Uttar Pradesh counter-intelligence unit, the local police had arrested Neutron, who was later granted bail in March 2024. In a video posted on social media, the accused had threatened the police of waging a war through arms smuggling.

Police found links between Neutron and jailed gangster Boota Khan alias Bagga Khan.

After availing bail, Neutron and his aide had attempted to murder a family in Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar in April. A case was registered at Dugri police station. After the death of an elderly woman, murder charges were added. His wife was arrested in connection with the case.

Following the incident, four more cases were registered against Neutron and its associates in July in Ludhiana and UP. He was also allegedly involved in a car theft in UP in July.

On July 7, his three helpers opened fire on a house.

On July 12, police arrested four members of his gang.

On August 1, Khanna police arrested four members of his gang for opening fire outside a college.
