The Western Michigan Broncos and Ball State Cardinals meet Saturday in a college football game at Scheumann Stadium. Here’s a Ball State vs. Western Michigan prediction. We’ll look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best choice between Ball State and Western Michigan.

Western Michigan Broncos betting preview

The Broncos’ year began with a game against Wisconsin on August 30th. Western Michigan lost that game 28-14 and then fell 56-0 to Ohio State in the second game. However, the Broncos got their first win the next week with a 59-31 win over Bethune-Cookman.

On Saturday against Marshall, the Broncos trailed 20-17 early in the final quarter and eventually lost a tough game 27-20. QB Hayden Wolf recorded 126 yards and a touchdown. Leading rushing leader was Jaden Nixon with 146 yards and a touchdown on 23 totes.

Ball State Cardinals Betting Preview

The Cardinals defeated Missouri State 42-34 in their season opener. Ball State was defeated by Miami-FL 62-0 in its next game and then lost 37-34 to Central Michigan on September 21st.

Last weekend in their matchup against James Madison, the Cardinals gave up 22 points in the first quarter and 20 more in the third quarter as they suffered a stunning 63-7 defeat. Kadin Semonza threw for one touchdown, three picks and 168 yards. Tanner Koziol was the leading receiver with nine grabs for 78 yards and the score.

Ball State vs Western Michigan Prediction

I’ll probably go to western Michigan. The Broncos offense couldn’t quite overcome itself in the Marshall game last weekend. WMU totaled 318 yards (192 rushing), 22 first downs and 5 of 15 on third-down attempts. On defense, the Broncos gave up 420 yards (243 rushing), 6.6 yards per play and 20 first downs.

As for Ball State, they were swallowed up by a superior opponent in James Madison last weekend. The Cardinals gave up 522 yards (236 rushing), 8.3 yards per play, 29 first downs and 9 of 10 on third downs in the blowout loss. Western Michigan should be a softer opponent this time around, but in the end I’ll probably still like the Broncos as a possible cover.
