Police in Long Beach have decided to increase their presence in communities affected by a series of stabbings that occurred within nine hours over the weekend.

“LBPD will have additional police presence today, including patrol officers and Neighborhood Safety Bike Team officers, to engage with residents and businesses,” the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement.

The statement outlined the circumstances of each incident, which occurred between Saturday evening and Sunday morning from approximately 6:20 p.m

At that point, officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of E. Pacific Coast Highway where they learned an argument had escalated into a fight. A male victim, who has not yet been identified, suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper body and was taken to a nearby hospital, where his condition has since stabilized. No arrests were made in this incident.

Hours later, around 2 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Second Street in the Belmont Shore area, where another physical altercation between two men escalated into a stabbing. One of the men was stabbed in the upper body and taken to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition. The suspect fled the scene when officers arrived and has not yet been found.

That same hour, around 2:20 a.m., police were dispatched to a hospital after learning of two stabbers who had recently arrived. They learned that two women were involved in a fight in the 200 block of Pine Avenue and a third woman had allegedly stabbed each of the others in the torso. Both were considered stable Sunday evening. Despite their attempts to locate the crime scene, officers were unable to locate the crime scene.

The fourth and final stabbing occurred around 3 a.m. in the 5100 block of Second Street, similar to the second stabbing that evening. However, officials said they do not believe this incident is related to the first at that location. Officers were taken to a hospital nearly two hours later, at about 4:50 a.m., after receiving word of the arrival of a stabbing victim. They learned that the unidentified victim was involved in an argument with a group of women when one suspect punched the victim and a second stabbed him in the upper body. The victim’s condition is expected to stabilize.

Anyone who knows more about any of the incidents is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (562) 435-6711.
