Pedestrian killed in accident; Driver is charged

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A pedestrian was killed in a crash on Route 501 on Saturday, September 28 at 9:53 p.m

According to Virginia State Police, a pedestrian was struck by an SUV driver while walking northbound on Route 501 near Phelps Creek Road. The pedestrian died at the scene of the accident.

According to police, the driver veered from the marked lane and collided with the pedestrian.

According to police, the driver left the scene of the accident but was found a few hours later.

The driver was charged with reckless driving and hit-and-run.
