Bade Miyan Chote Miyan Row: Merry Christmas Producer Ramesh Taurani Says ‘I Think It’s a Misunderstanding’; shows faith in Vashu Bhagnani

Jackky Bhagnani and his father Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment have been surrounded by controversies lately. They made headlines after crew members of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan leveled allegations against the company for non-payment of dues after the film failed to score big at the box office. Now film producer Ramesh Taurani has spoken out on this issue and stood up for the Bhagnani.

The producers of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan came in a negative light after the film’s non-cast and crew alleged that they were not paid by the Pooja Entertainment company for their work. After the film exploded at the box office, the technical team claimed that Vashu Bhagnani and his son Jackky Bhagnani had not paid the salaries. However, in a recent interview with The Indian Express, Ramesh Taurani, co-founder of Tips Industries, showed his faith in the production house.

Taurani told the publication that everything that happened between the crew and producers at BMCM would be sorted out and they would move on. “I don’t think he’s the type of producer who would do something like that. He has been around since 1995,” Ramesh said, adding that he had never heard of Vashu Bhagnani doing anything like this with anyone’s money. Furthermore, he thinks, “It is a misunderstanding and they will make sure it is cleared up.”

The controversy escalated when the film’s director Ali Abbas Zafar took action against the producers, claiming that Bhagnani owed him Rs 730 crore. Soon things reached the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). Additionally, Mission Raniganj director Tinu Desai and Ganpath director Vikas Bahl complained against the production house for unpaid dues.

But the producers in question retaliated and filed a police report against Zafar, accusing him of “misappropriation of funds.” Previously, Netflix had responded to Pooja Entertainment’s claim that they owe them money. In a statement, the OTT giant said: “These claims are completely baseless. In fact, it is Pooja Entertainment that owes Netflix money. We have a strong track record of partnering with the Indian creative community and are working with the authorities to resolve this dispute.”

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was released in April 2024. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar, Alaya F, Sonakshi Sinha and Ronit Roy.
