The Sharjah Police General Command has announced a significant decrease in road accidents and related deaths for the first half of 2024, according to the statistical report released by the Traffic and Patrol Police.

The report found a 15 percent decrease in deaths per 100,000 residents compared to the same period last year, as well as a 9 percent decrease in traffic accidents per 10,000 vehicles.

The remarkable improvement is thanks to the rigorous traffic campaigns carried out by the traffic and patrol police together with their strategic partners to improve road safety.

Lt. Col. Mohammad Alay Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrol Department of Sharjah Police, highlighted the department’s commitment to increasing road safety awareness and stressed that road safety is the shared responsibility of drivers and all road users. He emphasized the importance of traffic awareness in promoting safety and minimizing fatal and serious accidents, ultimately contributing to safer roads for all.

He urged drivers and road users to obey traffic rules, adhere to speed limits, minimize distractions while driving and be alert to unexpected road conditions.
