“I was so excited” – Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama forces Ryan Clark to move on from his pessimism

The Alabama football team is currently overjoyed as they pulled off a very special 41-34 win over No. 2 Georgia this Saturday. The game was the Tide’s biggest challenge to overcome and continue their momentum on the season. They did it with grace under the careful direction of Kalen Deboer. The game saw many dramatic twists and turns in the second half as a slow offensive build turned a massive 30-7 lead into a deficit of just 34-33. Any Bama fan should have felt they were in trouble.

However, thanks to the composure and resilience of DeBoer and his boys, they managed to regain the pace and achieve a remarkable result in the end. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief! Wait, not everyone. NFL analyst Ryan Clark was probably busy thinking about how to cover up his previous glowing reviews about Alabama’s potential future.

At the start of the 2024 season, as Nick Saban ended his historic tenure and left Kalen DeBoer to take over, veteran Bama hater Ryan Clark expressed dire doubts about the Tide’s future. Believing in the team’s inevitable downturn, Clark tweeted: “They have loads of children in the portal and a number of commitments already lifted. Kalen DeBoer is a really good coach with an impressive resume, but he’s no Bear. Sure, that’s not Nick!! They made Tuscaloosa a place to win championships. Most others have failed. Oh & #GeauxTigers.”

But this isn’t the first time he’s targeted the Tide collective. Alongside the tweet was a tag that takes you back to his previous trash talk about Alabama. In a three-minute monologue during ESPN’s flagship show “First Take,” Clark predicted that Alabama fans shouldn’t hope for more than seven to eight wins on the season without Nick Saban. However, last week’s win was a reality check for the former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman, who was morally forced to abandon his stance. When an X fan page denounced him for the unnecessary forecast, he took his words back with one “So excited” Excuse me.

However, it’s safe to say that NFL legend Ryan Clark is a controversy magnet. In recent history, he has been in the headlines for his trashy, body-shaming comments about former Alabama WB Tua Tagovailoa.

Clark sparked controversy with the former Alabama quarterback

Clark found him in deep water after pointing out Tagovailoa’s physical appearance. The sharp-tongued former player let it out quite aggressively. He judged the Dolphins’ current QB based on the tattoo on his arm and advised him to spend more hours in the gym than at the tattoo parlor. The reality is that Tagovailoa has suffered a number of shocks in 2022 and is in the process of learning how to avoid the same thing in the future. So he had to build up extra muscle to better withstand the dangers on the field.

In a mature but fiery response, the QB noted that it was never his decision to step up. Rather, it was, in a sense, his compulsion, politely asking the veteran to keep his name out of his mouth in the future.

After causing a stir around the world, Clark fell into his typical apologetic mood and gave a lengthy explanation of what his real intention was. He claimed it was just a “bad joke” without any hidden intention to disrespect Tagovailoa’s work ethic or anything else, and settled the dispute with a “I’ll be better, I promise.’

Now it remains to be seen how his recent justification for hurting Alabama sentiment in the past will be received by insiders and fans.
